I believe every person has an inner core of goodness and strength — even when anxiety, depression, trauma, or self-doubt make it hard to see. My work is about creating a space of deep emotional safety where you can be honest, explore your inner world, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been hidden or overwhelmed. I earned my Psy.D. from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have worked in private practice, community mental health, and therapeutic day school settings. I've supported adults, teens, and children through trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, emotional regulation challenges, and identity struggles. Clients experience me as gentle, non-judgmental, and present — someone who will meet you where you are while also inviting honest, meaningful growth.

- Trauma & PTSD - Addiction and compulsive behaviors - Anxiety & depression - Emotional regulation challenges - Sexual abuse prevention & intervention - Self-esteem, self-confidence, and finding your voice - Teens navigating emotional or behavioral struggles

I use a holistic, evidence-based approach that honors both your inner world and your lived reality. Together, we pay attention not just to "symptoms," but to your story, your values, and the life you want to build. I draw from: - ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) — helping you relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings while building a life aligned with your values - IFS (Internal Family Systems) — exploring your inner "parts" with compassion and curiosity, rather than judgment or shame - Client-centered, humanistic therapy — creating a warm, respectful, non-judgmental space where you set the pace and we collaborate on your goals My style is warm, honest, and deeply collaborative. I show up as a real person in the room — human, present, and authentic — while grounding our work in solid clinical training. Therapy with me is not about fixing what's wrong with you, but about understanding your experiences, honoring your courage, and helping you create a more connected, values-driven life. Therapy is more than insight — it's about experiencing yourself in a new way. Together, we create space for self-discovery, acceptance, and growth, so you can move toward a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and truly yours.

Louis Meyers, therapist at Chicago Trauma Therapy

Louis Meyers LPC, CSAT-C
Associate Therapist

Healing isn't just about fixing what's broken — it's about rediscovering who you truly are. I work with adults, couples, and groups, helping clients move through trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles into lives of greater freedom and authenticity. Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, and direct. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel truly seen — while also inviting you to stretch into growth. I believe real change happens when we combine safety with challenge, and I strive to bring both into every session.

- Trauma recovery - Sex and pornography addiction recovery - Betrayal trauma - Relationship and attachment challenges - Anxiety, depression, and self-worth struggles - Parenting and family dynamics

My approach blends evidence-based techniques with a deeply relational presence. I draw from: - Psychodynamic Theory — exploring patterns beneath the surface - CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) — restructuring unhelpful thought patterns - EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) — deepening emotional awareness in relationships - Parts work — working with inner "parts" to create self-awareness and healing - Rogerian therapy — emphasizing empathy, trust, and unconditional positive regard I am also a CSAT- C, receiving advanced training in sex and pornography addiction treatment, betrayal trauma, and relationship repair. This specialized training allows me to guide both individuals and couples through some of the most sensitive and painful challenges with care and precision.
